Another year comes to an end....

Well another year is about to end and a new one begin. We made it through the Mifflinburg Christkindle Market and we  are still standing! It was a busy, busy market that went very smoothly. Guy and I thank everyone who stopped by the store to say hello. We truly cherish all of our customers and hope that our Santas bring a smile to your face! It's time again for us to close for at least a little while to rest and recuperate. During this time we will be planing the Easter season and getting the items molded. Look for us to reopen for the season on March 1st. Until we see you then, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year!

Goblins, Ghosts and Ghouls.....

Can you feel it? It's almost time. We made it through summer and now we start to feel alive again. I can't hardly wait for the crisp cool days of Fall. I've always felt that Mother Nature is about to put on her most beautiful show. The colors, the textures, smells and sounds of Fall  are what recharges my creative batteries. We have been busy in the Stamm House studio working on  all sorts of Halloween goodies. There's pumpkin men and woman, cats, skeletons, devils, ghouls and goblins all waiting to unleash their All Hallows' Eve mischief!  Opening day at Stamm House is Saturday September 9th at 10 am. Hope to see you here for a bewitching good time!

Halloween is coming.....

It always surprises me that as soon as July 4th passes that my thoughts go directly to Halloween. After the past two months of finishing and moving to our little stone cabin, I am now back working in the studio. Halloween and Christmas are on the top of my list. The creative juices are flowing so there is much to do. Opening day for the store will be Saturday September 9th. Hope to see everyone there so mark your calendars!

Hazy Summer Days

Well summers finally here in central Pennsylvania. We have been fortunate that our temperatures have been on the cooler side so far. This coming week all that is suppose to change. Being the summer season Stamm House has been closed. Summer is slow for us and I feel that I have other things that need my attention. For the past year we have been remodeling our little stone cabin. We are finally at the point of making the move . By September we should be all moved in and living there. The store will remain at our location in town for until the building sells which may take quite awhile. Everything considered this is the right move for us at the right time of our lives. I had another eye event in April. Another retina detachment in my other eye, the good eye. So now I'm  two for two which leaves me with really screwed up vision. This time was a much harder recovery which is not over yet. Right now even with my glasses its very hard to focus. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be ready for another eye exam and HOPEFULLY they can make my vision somewhat better. This has been a very frustrating situation especially trying to do any work. So life goes on here and with fingers crossed the Fall and Christmas season will  get rolling in the next few months without any problems! Raisin has grown into a big chunky brat. Next month is her checkup and Im sure the vet will have some words for her about her weight. I wouldn't be surprised if she hits 120 lbs. For a female that is big! She's a handful and extremely strong, too strong for Guy and I. We do our weekly visits to Lowes, Petsmart and Starbucks for her pupchino treat. Everyone loves her and she loves them thankfully.
Until I write again......

Round Two!

Well if you have been a long time follower of this blog what I'm about to write will sound familiar to you. Five years ago I had a retina detachment in my left eye while working on a very large paper mache elephant project. Fast forward to today and I now am post surgery from another retina detachment in my right eye. How lucky can one crafter get? This time recovery is a little bit rough with much more discomfort and irritation. I guess on the bright side, if there is one right now, we did make it through the Easter season before this happened. For the time being, Stamm House will be closed for awhile until I get back to normal. Ill be taking this time to rest and see where my eyesight ends up.Right now it looks like I am looking through a fishbowl in my eye because of the gas bubble they have placed in there. I could audition for The Walking Dead because I definitely look like a zombie eye and right now I have a mood to match! Until later........

Deep in Renovation

It's that time again, another renovation in the store. While we are on our long winters break and wont be open until March, we decided to renovate. This is always the time of year  we clean out, cleanup and redo. This time the store is getting a more sophisticated look, more of a gallery look focusing on just our reproductions. Gone is the children's section, now that foyer will highlight the upcoming holiday season. The candy section has been reduced down to just the best retro candies plus we are adding some German candies to fit in with the new German theme. At Stamm House we have primarily made German reproduction holiday items so recreating the store to  have a German theme seemed to make sense. We will also be focusing on German putz animals. Today I received a wonderful sheep mold from Europe. This is an old push mold that makes a little sheep, found in a old toy factory. Last month I was able to get my hands on a little duck mold from an old German toy shop that went out of business. It still had the last duck they molded inside! There are many new Easter pieces in the works for this year along with some St. Patrick's Day candy containers. One of the most exciting new pieces we will be working on for Christmas 2017 is a very large reindeer candy container. There's much work to be done right now everywhere you look. Keep checking back, as the progress continues I will post pictures! By the way, I guess that retirement  I was talking about, ya, that's not happening anytime soon!
